Mercury was a division of the Ford Motor Company, established in 1938 by Edsel Ford, son of Henry Ford, to provide a premium vehicle line positioned between the Ford and Lincoln brands. Models like the Mercury Cougar and the Mercury Grand Marquis became iconic for their design and appeal in different eras. Despite achieving success and recognition for its distinct models, Mercury faced challenges in differentiating itself within the crowded mid-luxury market segment.
